GATE Institute’s flagship projects were presented at "Innovative Sofia Meets Innovative Tallinn" webinar that took place on September 25th, 2020.

Innovative Sofia Meets Innovative Tallinn

The event started with welcome words by Mr. Gencho Kerezov, Deputy Mayor for Digitalisation, Innovation and Economic Development of Sofia Municipality.

GATE Centre of Excellence and GATE City Digital Twin pilot project were presented respectively by Prof. Sylvia Ilieva, Director of the GATE Institute and by the Assoc. Prof. Dessislava Petrova-Antonova, Research group lead at GATE Institute.

Prof. Sylvia Ilieva presented the scope of the activities of the institute and the opportunities for collaboration with the FINEST Twins Smart City Centre of Excellence (Tallinn). Assoc. Prof. Dessislava Petrova-Antonova outlined the objectives and the expected results of the City Digital Twin pilot project and explained how the partnership with the Chalmers University of Technology would support further project developments. The follow-up discussion focused on the transferable best practice from Tallinn to Sofia.

"Innovative Sofia Meets Innovative Tallinn" was organised by Innovative Sofia in cooperation with Tallinn Enterprise Department, with the participation of Ragnar Nurkse Department of Innovation and Governance of the Tallinn University of Technology, the FINEST Twins Smart City Center of Excellence (Tallinn), the GATE Centre of Excellence (Sofia) and Sofia University.
